The entire model is a little incestuous overall. I think there is still an opportunity for niche sites to generate both ad revenue from various sources, as well as paid memberships. On our site, swinglesonline.com, we specialize in matchmaking for singles in the swinger lifestyle, and my major complaint about adsense is that they will allow me to pay for adsense ads, but will not allow me to display the ads because our site is an adult personals site.
