Zoosk Raising 50 million?

February 7, 2011

Former employee says  zoosk is raising 50 million.   The market is insane right now i’ve never seen so much dealmaking going on behind the scenes as i do now.

More info on OKcupid,  revenue in 2007 was 1 Million,  in 2008  they wanted to reach 2 million but never made it.

Pageviews  on okcupid doubled between 2008 and 2010  so i’d estimate  2010 revenues at around $4 million.

Interesting how much things have changed in 2 years.    2 Years ago pof had no employees and nearly all of our revenue was from adsense.    Now adsense is under 5% of revenues and falling.   2 years from now the dating space is going to be totally different again especially for free sites.

OKCupid bought…

February 2, 2011

IAC bought Okcupid.com for $50 million in their third attempt to get into the free/freemium dating market. Congrats to the okc team.    I think its the first free dating site acquired.   No word yet  if Dave Evans gets to keep his office at okcupid.

Match paid a insane ebitda multiple for the company if you apply the same multiple to POF and Badoo we’d have a billion dollar valuations each.   The market has been in a massive state of flux the last year and will continue to be so this year.
