True.com Spending.

True.com to Spend $75 Million next year in online ads.

This year they claim  45 Million in spending and 30,000 new signups per day.    Works out to  $4.00  or so per signup.  If you back out users who find them through word of mouth  and referals  they must be paying at least  $7.00 to  $8.00  a free signup.

Hmm, they shrunk by almost 70% in size in last year according to Compete. Your site had gone up by 120%. Still they are boxing in helluva lot of $$ but in the long term i think they are toast…

When they trimmed their payouts & cracked down on spam, their traffic tanked in 2007.

I suspect word of mouth visitors are slim. Every subscription dating site has to spend very significants amount of money to keep their usage up.

I don’t know if True has changed much, but my understanding is their cost per subscription runs about $100 and their billing practices are aggressive to keep up with that cost.

True.com isn’t really that great. I tried it before with not much luck. They must have one hell of a marketing department to bag some many new users per day.

  4. Zak Kinion Says:

They make the money back and then some because their business model uses customer service people to msg trials under false pretenses and get them to convert to paid. They pass this earning back to more advertising and affiliates. Larger dating sites and cam sites do this.

Its funny, markus didnt you say that something like 30% of new sign ups to dating sites leave after a few months ? (cant remeber your exact numbers)

If this is the case why are they ploughing tons of dosh into it ? Its crazy they wont last long !!!!!

I think we are seeing alot of people investing in something they dont know !

I DON’T EVER REMEMBER SIGNING UP FOR TRUE.COM, HOWEVER THEY HAVE BEEN BILLING ME FOR THE PAST YEAR OR MORE. CANCELLED MY PROMO, AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM AT ALL, HOWEVER THEY CONTINUE TO BILL MY CREDIT CARD. MY NEXT STEP IS TO CANCEL THE CREDIT CARD AND NOTIFY THE BANK NOT TO PAY ANY MORE BILL TO THESE THIEFS, AND I USE THAT TERM LIGHTLY. MY ATTORNEY IS LOOKING INTO HOW TO HANDLE THIS. I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW LATER WHAT IS GOING ON.
